Agartala, Apr 28: Lack of LPG continues to plague the city even though production at Indian Oil's Bishalgarh gas bottling plant resumed from April 18.

Work in the Bishalgarh plant in Tripura's west district resumed within a week of suspension, but crisis still persists. In black market, a cylinder is available against a payment of Rs 370 to 400.

The civil supply department claimed earlier that the situation would normalise with the resumption of gas filling at the Bishalgarh plant. It still claims that there is no crisis at all.

Meanwhile, a number of filled cylinders were seized in Bishalgarh area by the department officials yesterday.

There were allegation from different quarters that the food and civil supply department was not taking any action to stop the blackmarketing of gas cylinders.

Taking advantage of this crisis, some traders were selling kerosene at a high price.
