Ruling SP rubbishes exit polls
Gorakhpur, Apr 28 (UNI) Samajwadi Party MP and its youth wing chief Akhilesh Singh Yadav today rubbished the various exit and opinion polls for the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
''The fate of these exit polls can easily be ascertained from the results of earlier elections, when their predictions went haywire,'' Mr Yadav said addressing an election meeting here.
''In the last assembly poll, these exit polls had proved wrong, when SP won 140 seats against the 90 seats projected by them,'' he noted.
''Further, in the Lok Sabha poll, these polls forecast that SP would win 9-10 seats, but we wrested far greater number of seats,'' he maintained.
Mr Yadav is the son of SP supremo and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The Kannauj MP asserted that SP would surely retain power in UP.
''The people have already seen the regimes of Congress, BSP and BJP and they can make out the difference,'' Mr Yadav added.
The SP leader lamented the ''issue-less'' opposition was making unnecessary noises and trying to confuse the electorate for vested interests.
''However, people are wiser now...they know the real meaning of democracy and will not fall in any trap.'' Mr Yadav also took the opportunity to list the various achievements of the Mulayam regime.
