UP polls: Rajnath, Mayawati cast their vote

Lucknow, Apr 28: Bharatiya Janata Party President Rajnath Singh and BSP supremo Mayawati today cast their votes in the Uttar Pradesh capital as the fifth phase of polling in 57 Assembly constituencies including eight in this district was in progress.

Mr Singh cast his vote at PWD guest house polling booth while the BSP leader Mayawati exercised her franchise at Lucknow Montessory School polling booth in Cantonment Assmebly segment.

Former prime minister and the BJP MP from Lucknow Atal Bihari Vajpayee could not make it owing to bad health, the party sources told UNI. He was expected to cast his vote at Nagar Nigam polling booth and he himself had expressed his desire to vote when he was here on April 25 to address an election meeting.

BJP legislature party leader Lalji Tandon also used his franchise at a polling booth in the old city area.
