Matador kills young scooterists

Kolkata, Apr 28(UNI) Two teenagers were killed when a matador van hit the scooter in which they were travelling in the city's Park Circus area this morning.

Police said both the boys, who were on way to a swimming club, succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The accident took place when the scooter was negotiating a seven-point crossing and the matador van, taking a turn from another side, dashed against its side.

Alleging that police came late and the youths died because of delay in getting treatement, an irate mob of local people set fire to the van shortly after the accident. They also put up a road block in the area disrupting movement of vehicular traffic for quite some time.

Police said the driver of the killer van and his helper had been arrested.
