Life term for five in kidnapping case

Patna, Apr 28 (UNI) A local court today awarded life imprisonment to five people in connection with the kidnapping of a businessman.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs 5000 on eachs of the convicts.

Additional district and sessions judge Virendra Mohan Srivastav sentenced all the accused to rigorous life imprisonment after they were found guilty in the case.

According to the charges, the convicts were involved in kidnapping of a cloth merchant Prashant Jain, who was abducted from Budh Marg under Kotwali police station area in Patna on January 5, 2006.

Later police had rescued the victim from the abductors at Manikpur village under Raghopur police station area in Vaishali district on January 16, 2006.

Those convicted are--Santosh Kumar, Abhishek Mishra, Randhir Kumar, Ram Kripal Shahni and Sanjay Sah.
