Kalla condemns government for its "failures"
Jaipur, Apr 28 (UNI) Congress state president B D Kalla today condemned the Vasundhara Raje Government in Rajasthan for its "failure" in providing good governance to the people, specially farmers.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Kalla said the present government could neither maintain the pace of development achieved by the previous Congress led government nor solve the miseries of poor masses and farmers.
He said the state government has also shown "apathy" towards the miseries of people in drought affected areas.
He said the present government had increased the burden of Rs 950 crore per annum on electricity charges affecting adversely the budget of farmers and poor consumers.
The power supply in the state had also been worsened with rural areas getting only three hours a day supply.
Besides this, higher rate of sales tax and cess on petroleum products in the state had also intensified the miseries of the people.
Mr Kalla said the government had initiated inadequate famine relief works.
Over 11,000 villages are hit by drought but the state government had so far opened relief works camps to provide jobs to only 3 lakh people.
He demanded that more relief works should be opened immediately to employ at least 15 lakh people.
Mr Kalla also demanded rationalisation of task for the workers engaged in relief works.
