New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) Mr Anjan Mukherjee, Secretary, Media and Communication,National Council of YMCAs of India, has been appointed as the General Secretary of the YMCA Indian Student Hostel, London.

Mr Mukherjee, who is with the YMCA for more than 34 years, has also been in charge of Youth Work, Women's Empowerment and Programme and Christian Mission and Development Concerns.

The YMCA Indian Student Hostel is the flagship project of the YMCAs of India and holds a pre-eminent place among Asians especially Indians, in the U K. It was set up in 1920 under the inspiration of Mr K T Paul, the first Indian National General Secretary of the YMCA and Mahatma Gandhi with whom he attended the First Round Conference in the 1930s in London.
