Congress will improve its position in UP assembly--Kalla
Jaipur, Apr 28 (UNI) State Congress president B D Kalla today claimed that his party would increase its strength in the new Uttar Pradesh assembly after the results of the ongoing polls were announced.
Talking to UNI here, Mr Kalla said that electioneering by Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi, MP Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka had brightened the electoral prospects of the party.
Mr Kalla, who has undertaken extensive tours to the neighbouring state to campaign for the party, said that ''the resounding response of people to road shows and meetings held by the Gandhi family had boosted the morale of party workers and candidates.'' He said the feedback from various channels suggested that the voting per centage in favour of the Congress, which was around 9 per cent in the last elections, was likely to cross 20 per cent and accordingly the number of seats in the new house would also go up.
