Cong workers lathicharged, several wounded

Deoria, Apr 28 (UNI) Several Congress workers were wounded today in a police lathicharge after they staged a demonstration in the Kotwali area of the distict here.

The demonstration was staged by the workers after the police booked them for violation the model code of conduct when they were taking out 'Rahul Sandesh Yatra' under the leadership of All India Youth Congress president Ashok Tanwar.

The police also seized their vehicles.

However, the police said, only after seeing the situation turning out of control, they lathicharged the mob.

The injured were rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
