Cognizant to recruit 18,000 IT professionals

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 28: IT major Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) will recruit about 18,000 Information Technology professionals before the end of this year, CTS President and Managing Director R Chandrasekaran said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the recruitment would be in addition to the present strength of 38,000 people working in the company.

The company was taking multi-pronged approach to redress the constraint of recruiting quality professionals by running a training academy, organiSing job fairs and selection process at various places with the help of institutions like the Board of Apprenticeship Training under the Human Resource Development Ministry, he added.

As CTS was keen on opening offices in tier-two cities like Tiruchirapalli and other places, he said initiatives had been already taken to set up offices in Coimbatore and Kochi.

Necessary arrangement was underway to open the new office at Kochi shortly, he said, adding the foreign locations, including two in US, one in China, one in Toronto in Canada and another at Buenos Aires in Argentina. Besides, the company was eyeing its interest in certain locations in Eastern Europe.
