CBI is UPA's 'puppet': Mulayam

Robertsganj, Apr 28 (UNI) Firing a salvo at the UPA regime at the centre, Ruling Samajwadi Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today said Nithari accused would have been behind the bars, but the CBI was acting as a ''puppet.'' ''CBI has gone astray. Sadly, it is doing everything, except what it is supposed to do,'' Mr Yadav said, addressing an election meeting here.

''CBI is dancing to the tune of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and therefore, has given clean chit to Quattrocchi in the Bofors case,'' the former defence minister charged.

Castigating the centre, Mr Yadav said it has failed on every front. ''Congress is the mother of inflation, which has made life full of hardships for people. Sadly, the party has always cheated the masses,'' he said.

''Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi are too young. They are ignorant about India's past. The duo also lack political wisdom. They do not know who actually committed sacrifices for Independence,'' the CM observed.

Lambasting the opposition, the SP leader said the opposition is hatching a conspiracy to jail him, but all their efforts would turn futile as people were with him and SP would get a thumping majority in the assembly poll.

He reiterated the promise of Rs 1,500 unemployment allowance to the youth, Rs 25,000 as Kanya Vidya Dhan and scheme similar to Indira Avaas Yojana named Lohiya Avaas Yojana for backward and minority classes.
