Athens, Apr 27 (UNI) What can be a more happy moment for a scientist than developing a satellite for his country. But for President APJ Abdul, the most distinguished scientist of India, the happiest moment in life was when he developed caliper material for disabled children.

Asked by the people of Indian origin at a reception given by Indian Ambassador to Greece Bhaskar Balakrishnan which was the happiest moment of his life, President Kalam said it was when he developed a material which helped in making calipers for disabled children.

Earlier the calipers were very heavy and weighed around three kg as they were made of iron but with the help of the calipers made of the new material, which just weighs about 300 gms, the children could even run after wearing them, he said.

It was most satisfying to see the joy of the parents of those children, whose eyes filled with tears seeing their kids running, President Kalam added.

Though I had developed this material for some other space purposes but later I came to know that it could be used to make calipers for children, he said.

In his message to the people of Indian origin in Greece, President Kalam said, ''Work for the economic and social development of the country where you are living.'' President Kalam is on a three-day visit to Greece, the first by an Indian Head of State in 21 years, aimed at consolidating New Delhi's relations with Athens.
