Three people killed as rain plays havoc in Kerala

Kottayam, Apr 27 (UNI) Three persons were killed and several houses and crops destroyed along with power supply and road traffic disrupted at several areas in Kerala, following rains accompanied by lightning and heavy winds last evening.

Taxi driver Venugopalan Nair (39) of Pallickathode and toddy tapper Binu (28) of Vazhithala died after being struck by lightning.

Dabin (13), a standard seven student of Udayanapuram, was killed when a compound wall near his house fell on him.

Widespread crop loss was reported from Changanacherry,Ayarkunnam, Vaikom, Maranganttupally, Pallickathode, Pampady,Kuravilangadu and other areas due to strong winds.

Power supply was restored only this morning at certain areas in the town.
