Telekom Malaysia group to lay Asia-US cable
Putrajaya, Malaysia, Apr 27: Telekom Malaysia is leading a group of 17 Asian phone companies to build an undersea fibre-optic cable worth about 0 million to link Southeast Asia and the United States, Telekom said on Friday.
Alcatel Submarine Network and Japan's NEC have been awarded the construction contract for the cable, which was due to start carrying comnmercial traffic by December 2008, Telekom said in a statement.
