Tata Ryerson ties-up with Canadian Samco for small car technolgy
Kolkata, Apr 27 (UNI) Tata Ryerson Limited, a Tata Group company, has tied up with Canadian company Samco for technological assistance to supply "rolled formed sections" for the chasis of Tata Motor's small cars which would be manufactured in the much hyped Rs 1000 crore manufacturing facility in Singur.
Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of a workshop organised by Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry today, Tata Ryerson Managing Director Sandipan Chakrabarty said, ''The rolled formed section is an advanced technology which will help form the chasis of the car in a cost-effective manner following the principles of volume of scale.
''We will also supply sheet metal products and blankings.
Blankings are used to manufacture the doors and windows of the cars,'' he said.
For the blankings, Tata Ryerson would tie up with a Japanese company Komatsu. ''We are negotiating with the company as they have expertise in manufacturing blankings,'' he said.
Tata Ryerson has 10 acre land in Singur car factory area from where these products would be supplied to the main car manufacturing unit. The Ryerson MD said an additional investment of Rs 120 crore would be made to manufacture these products for Tata Motor's small car unit.
