Sushma Swaraj decries unsavourary comments on ''Mother India''
Jaunpur, Apr 27 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former union minister Sushma Swaraj today said her party would always be an adversary to those passing indignified comments about ''Mother India.'' ''BJP respects Mother India...the party can never be close to those, who call Her 'dyan' (witch). Such persons even pray for India's defeat during Indo-Pak cricket matches,'' Ms Swaraj said addressing an election meeting here.
Firing a salvo at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for supporting reservation on caste basis, the BJP leader said ''we will never uphold his suggestion. Reservation ought to be only on economic criteria as a poor is a poor whether Hindu or Muslim.'' Upbraiding the UPA regime at the centre, she alleged ''a day has come, when common man sleeps without having food. I hold only Congress responsible for it. During its regime, the diesel and petrol prices have also considerably hiked.'' The SP, BSP and Congress have neither any policy not a progressive mentality, she charged.
Castigating the Mulayam Singh Yadav regime in Uttar Pradesh, she alleged by withdrawing cases against Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), the CM has shown how keen he is in encouraging terrorism in the country.
Seeking votes for BJP, the firebrand leader claimed only Kalyan Singh is capable of uprooting the ''mafia and goonda raj'' in UP.
