Streamline paddy procurement: Karshaka Congress President

Kottayam, Apr 27 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Karshaka Congress Committee President Lal Varghese Kalpakavadi today appealed to the State government to streamline paddy procurement and take steps to procure the entire paddy quantity from the field itself.

At a news conference here, he criticised the government's move to entrust paddy procurement to private agencies.

It would be detrimental to the interest of farmers, he said and sought adequate compensation to the farmers whose paddy was damaged due to delay in procurement.

He also demanded that be paid to the people whose crop was damaged following heavy winds last evening.
