Sri Lanka Education Minister leads delegation to NIE
Mysore, Apr 27 (UNI) A five-member delegation led by Sri Lanka Minister for Higher Education Piya Sena Gamage, on study tour, visited the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) here today.
NIE President M A Sampath Iyengar welcomed the delegation and after a brief interaction session with the students and the faculty of the Institute the Delegation expressed happiness over the functioning of the College and said they would adopt the changes they found in the NIE in their technical education system.
Speaking to newsmen Sri Lanka Technical Education Director General Dr H L Obeysekara said that there are 39 Engineering Colleges in Sri Lanka and it lacks skill based quality education.
It was proposed to introduce three year Industrial Training in vocational courses after 10th standard and Plus Two. Course in Information Technologies would also be introduced.
