Security tightened at Chennai Port
Chennai, Apr 27: Security has been beefed up at the Chennai Port, following Intellegence Bureau's (IB) warning of a possible attack at the port by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) or Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).
An official release here today said the government had tightened the security in and around the port and additional police force had been deployed to keep a strict vigil on the premises of the port.
No person would be allowed entry without proper identification documents and all the vehicles would be thoroughly screened before allowing entry.
Sniffer dogs and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads had been pressed into service to constantly check the premises of the port, the release added.
