Save water campaign in MP
Bhopal, Apr 27 (UNI) Alarmed over depleting water level posing severe crisis in summer, a state-wide campaign will be launched in Madhya Pradesh during May to create awareness about water conservation and ground water recharge.
This will be the follow-up of the 'Jalabhishek Abhiyan' launched during May-July last year, Urban Development Minister Jayant Malaiya said today.
Maintenance and upgradation of water structures, rainwater harvesting systems and removal of encroachments from nullahs would be undertaken during the month-long campaign in urban areas with community support, he said, adding NGOs and voluntary institutions would also be roped in.
Claiming that the campaign received unprecedented public support last year, Mr Malaiya said the state government had assigned the responsibilities for implementing the second phase to the District Collectors. Minister incharge will head comittees at district-level to monitor the programme, he added.
