'Rail-roko' against Babli, BJP leaders arrested
Hyderabad, Apr 27 (UNI) Senior BJP leaders, including State President Bandaru Dattatreya and General Secretary K Laxman, were arrested for resorting to 'rail-roko' agitation at Secunderabad railway station today.
The BJP leaders' dharna at the railway station, demanding that the state and Central governments stop the 'Babli' project taken up by the Maharashtra government, led to disruption of rail traffic for an hour.
Earlier, speaking to newspersons here, Mr Dattatreya alleged that the state government was not taking any steps to halt the ongoing works at the project site even after the BJP National Secretary N Indrasena Reddy launched his 'fast-unto-death' five days ago.
He charged the State government with failure to protect the interests of the backward Telangana region by not listening to the woes of the people.
