AP: Case against TRS MLA in passport racket case
Hyderabad, Apr 27: Close on the heels of the arrest of BJP MP Babubai Katara in human trafficking case, the city police today registered a case against Telangana Rastra Smithi (TRS) MLA K Lingaiah for allegedly obtaining a fake passport in the name of a woman stating to be his wife with the help of fake certificates.
Police said they had booked a case against the MLA for obtaining fake passport and had asked the Regional Passport Officer to submit the details of the passport.
TRS MLA K Lingaiah, elected from Nerella constituency of Karim Nagar district, had obtained a passport in the name of his wife K Tara for a woman using fake ration cards as proof on Janaury 25, 2007.
He submitted joint affidavits, terming the woman was his wife to the passport office.
Regional Passport Officer Bala Bhaskar told newspersons that they would submit the details to the police with regard to the case after conducting a thorough probe into the issue.
