Chennai, Apr 27 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder-leader S Ramadoss today hailed the Madras High Court order upholding Tamil Nadu Government's Act to dispense with Common Entrance Test for professional courses.

In a statement here, Dr Ramadoss said it was a victory for the 23-year-old demand that the CET would not provide equal justice for poor students and those in rural areas.

It was also a victory for the continuous struggle as the CET had meted out injustice to the poor people without giving equal opportunity for all in the interests of social justice.

Though the previous government had twice announced abolition of the CET, it turned out to be an 'eye-wash' and did not meet with success.

''Since the ruling DMK had handled the issue in a proper way, the abolition of the CET had come into force'', he said and thanked Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and his government for the victory on the issue.

It was an undeniable truth that the CET had developed a long gap between the students in the urban and rural areas and the private training institutions had only minted money by offering special training, basically benefitting the students from the affluent families.

Welcoming the verdict, Dravidar Kazhagam general secretary K Veeramani said the DMK Government had brought an Act abolishing CET and forces acting against social justice challenged it before the Court, which had lit up the lives of the poor by upholding it.
