Passengers agitate over Indigo airline staff

Chennai, Apr 27 (UNI) Tension prevailed for a while at Kamaraj Domestic Airport here last night, when a section of Delhi bound air passengers agitated over the attitude of the counter staff of the private airlines Indigo.

Airport sources said four passengers, including three women, had booked their tickets to Delhi by using a City Bank credit card. When they came for check in at the airport for the 2110 hrs Indigo airline flight, the airlines counter staff told them that their tickets were cancelled and showed the cancellation entry in the computer.

Even after repeated pleas the airlines staff did not allow them to board the flight. The disappointed passengers and others agitated and gheraoed the airlines' staff.

On information, police rushed to the spot and after a counter check at the City Bank's service centre, confirmed that a sum of Rs 16,094 was credited from the account of one Abdulkalam, a relative of the passengers, who booked the ticket on April 25.

On the intervention of the police, the airline staff finally agreed to send the passengers to Delhi in the flight this morning.

Mr Abdulkalam told newspersons that he would be seeking legal remedy at the Consumers Forum for the airlines negligence. He had also filed a complaint to the airport police in this regard.
