Modi announces Rs 40 cr package for wildlife
Ahmedabad, Apr 27 (UNI) Gujarat government has announced a Rs 40 crore package for Gir forest wildlife and has set up a seven-member wildlife protection task force.
The task force will be notified in two months and will be headquartered in Gandhinagar.
It would comprise principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife), chief conservator of forest (training, research and orientation), Y D Jhala of Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, Forensic Science Laboratory director and professor Sanjay Chaudhury of DA IICT's and Junagadh's conservator of forest (wildlife) would also be a part of it, an offcial release said here today.
The package would mainly be for enhancing the long-term protection of the wildlife, the release added.
The task force will also plan the use of modern technology to improve maintenance and protection of wildlife, the release added.
