Chandigarh, Apr 27: In an innovative move to create self employment for ten thousand women every year in Haryana, the state Government has decided to provide milko meters equipment to the existing Women Cooperative Societies and also to those which will be formed in the next two years.

Minister of State for Cooperation Meena Mandal said a sum of Rs 20 lakh had been earmarked for the scheme ''Assistance to Women Cooperatives'' and the entire amount would be provided by the State Government for its implementation.

Ms Mandal said the main aim of the scheme was to empower the women by providing them avenues of additional indirect self-employment and thus become self-reliant.

The milko meters, which would be provided to the Women Cooperative Societies would help them in checking any adulteration in the milk so that quality milk could be supplied to the consumers, she added.

The Minister said at present there were 600 Women Cooperative Societies which were functioning in the state and 100 such Societies would be formed in the next two years.

As many as 200 Societies were provided assistance by a Central Government Scheme. The existing societies and new societies would be covered under this scheme, she added.
