Man booked for dowry murder commits suicide
Phagwara, Apr 27 (UNI) A day after the mysterious death of a woman here, her husband booked along with other family members under the charge of her dowry murder, allegedlly committed suicide.
Charanjit Kumar of Dhuck Pandori village, whose wife Paramjit Kaur had died yesterday, reportedly committed suicide by consuming poison late last night.
According to the reports, Charanjit was found uncouncious on Phagwara-Mehili Bypass and was immediately admitted in Phagwara civil hospital where he died early today.
The deceased along with his father Bakshi Ram, mother Rattna, brothers Mohan and Bindu and sister-in-law Kamla was booked by Phagwara Police yesterday under section 302IPC on the charges of the murder of Paramjit, on the complaint of her brother Rajinder Kaler.
The family members of the deceased woman held demonstration, blocked vehicular traffic on Phagwara-Banga Road and sat on dharna before Sadar police Station Phagwara to pressurise the police to register a case of murder against her-in-laws.
The couple was married 13 years back and is survived by three children. Rajinder the brother of the deceased Paramjit, had alleged that his sister was beaten up and mentally harassed by her in-laws in greed of more dowry.
