Lankan Education Minister leads delegation to NIE

Mysore, Apr 27 (UNI) A five-member delegation led by Sri Lanka Minister for Higher Education Piya Sena Gamage, on a study tour visited the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) here today.

NIE President M A Sampath Iyengar welcomed the delegation. After a brief interaction session with the students and the faculty of NIE the delegation expressed happiness over the functioning of the Institute and said they would adopt the changes they found in NIE in their technical education system.

Speaking to newspersons, Sri Lanka Technical Education Director General H L Obeysekara said all the 39 Engineering Colleges in Sri Lanka lacked skill based quality education.

It was proposed to introduce three year industrial training in vocational courses after standard ten and plus two classes. Courses in IT would also be introduced.
