Janakiraman takes over as new ISA Chairman

Bangalore, Apr 27 (UNI) Mr S Janakiraman, President and CEO, R and D services of Mind Tree Consulting has taken over as Chairman of the India Semi-Conductor Association (ISA) for the year 2007-08.

Managing Director of Cadence Design Systems, Jaswinder Ahuja will be the new Vice Chairman. The other elected members to the Executive Council were Vasudevan Moorthy (Wipro Technologies), Sanjeev Keskar (Freescale Semiconductor), Rajiv Kapur (LSI), B V Naidu (SemIndia), Dr Pradipo K Dutta (Synopsis) Dr Sunil Sherelekar (TCS) and V Veerappan (Tessolve).

Mr Janakiraman, commenting on his election, said with the semi-conductor policy announced, this year would be crucial for ISA to leverage and enable great positive momentum for the industry.

Commenting on the new Office bearers, ISA President Poornima Shenoy said Mr Janakiraman had played a vital role in ISA's progress so far and was greatly respected in the industry for his leadership, technical knowledge and strategic vision.

ISA also announced institution of annual ISA Technovision Awards.

The categories of Awards, to be selected in association with the VLSI Society of India, would be Technovisonary Award (for lifetime achievement in the sector), Techno-Shield(rolling Award for academic institute for outstanding work on semi-conductor space), Techno-Mentor Award (honouring distinguished Indian academician or researcher for achievements in mentoring research) and Techno-Inventor (for young scholars for outstanding Postgraduate and doctoral research from an Indian University).
