Honda rolls out new UNICORN

Chennai, Apr 27 (UNI) Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd, subsidiary of Honda Motor Company Japan, world's largest two wheeler manufacturer, today launched new sporty looking bikes, 150 cc Honda UNICORN and 125 cc Honda SHINE here.

Speaking to newspersons, after the launch, Company's All India Sales Head Yadvinder S Guleria said they sold 7.2 lakh units during 2006-07 and were planning to sell nine lakh units during the current year.

They had emerged as the fourth largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India by growing faster than the industry year after year, he claimed. "We are now targeting to be one of the top two wheeler companies in India by 2010", he added.

The new versions of both the bikes had plenty of advantages, specially maintained to fulfill the aspirations and needs of the target customers. The consumer expectations had evolved since they launched Unicorn and Shine, he added.

He said Unicorn, powered by a Honda four-stroke 150cc engine and incorporating cutting-edge technologies developed by Honda's global R and D team, was an engineering masterpiece. With a powerful 13.3 bhp engine, it would clock 0-60 kmph in an amazing five seconds, delivering the best pick-up in its class. It was engineered to ensure a perfect blend of pick up and a mileage of 60 kms.

Unicorn made with an aerodynamic body and refined Honda engine would develop high torque at practical operating speeds, he added.
