Heat Wave returns to Delhi after two-day respite
New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) After a brief respite, over the last few days, from the scorching summer, heat wave returned to the capital today with the mercury shooting up to 40.9 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal.
Though isolated duststorms did provide some relief in the morning, resulting in a drop in the minimum temperature to 22.1 degrees Celsius, from 25.2 degrees C yesterday, the post afternoon period saw a return to scorching Summer heat.
The maximum rose from 39.3 degrees Celsius yesterday to 40.9 degrees C today.
The heat wave in the city is expected to intensify in the next few days with the weather office forecasting a rise in the day temperature over Northwest India during the next three to four days.
The met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours. They have also forecast a rise in the maximum temperature in Delhi to 42 degrees Celsius tomorrow.
