HC Notice to Punjab Govt in Dimpy shootdown case

Chandigarh, April 27 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notice for May 10 to the Punjab government on a petition filed by Hardip Singh Kadian father-in-law and Pawandeep Kaur, the widow of Prabhjinder Singh alias Dimpy who was gunned down in July last year outside the Lake Club, seeking security in view of recurrent threats to eliminate them.

They have already moved the court for a CBI probe into the killing alleging that police had not arrested anyone so far as Sukhbir Singh Badal, MP, was considered close to the suspects involved in the murder.

The petitioners further submitted before the Division Bench of Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Rajive Bhalla that the security earlier provided to them had also been withdrawn after the Parkash Singh Badal became the Chief Minister of Punjab.
