Haryana: Voter lists to be updated for PRI bypoll
Chandigarh, Apr 27 (UNI) The Haryana State Election Commission has decided to update wardwise lists of voters of gram panchayats, panchayat samitis and zila parishads for the conduct of by-elections to fill the vacant seats of panches, sarpanches and members of panchayat samitis and zila parishads.
State Election Commissioner Chander Singh said that these lists would be updated on the basis of relevant parts of assembly electoral rolls published on May 31, 2006.
These seats have fallen vacant either due to death of the elected representative, resignation, disqualification or the election has been set aside by the civil court.
He said that for updating the voters lists, the qualifying date would be January 1, 2007.
The final list of voters as published on February 22, 2005 would also be amended and updated in case of by-elections.
He said that from May 3 to 10, the wardwise draft lists of voters of gram panchayats, panchayat samitis and zila parishads would be prepared by adding in the existing lists of voters, the names of the voters included in the assembly electoral rolls finally published on May 31, 2006.
Wardwise draft lists of voters would be published for inviting claims and objections on May 11. The last date for receipt of claims and objections would be May 21. The last date for disposal of claims and objections by the District Electoral Officers (Panchayats) would be May 24.
