Haryana to develop 65 villages as model villages

Chandigarh, Apr 27 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to develop 65 villages of the state as model villages.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh said these model villages would be equipped with all modern facilities like electricity, community centres, sports stadia besides pucca roads.

He said under the recommendation of Second State Finance Commission, budget provision of Rs 75 crore was made during the last financial year for overall development of the model villages.

He said out of Rs 75 crore, Rs 25.09 crore had been released to the Deputy Commissioners. Administrative approval of 23 model villages had been accorded and tender process of 20 model villages had been finalised and work had been allocated to the contractors accordingly.

He said the Government had a plan to spend funds ranging from Rs two crore to Rs 10 crore in each of these model villages.

The estimates would depend upon the size of the village and the state of existing infrastructure.

He said out of 65 model villages, work of 20 model villages had been handed over to the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board and rest of the villages would be developed by Development and Panchayats Department.

In these villages all the streets would be made pucca by laying precast interlocking paver blocks alongwith drains and disposal of waste water, he added.

Plantation of the ornamental plants in these modern villages and construction of a welcome gate on the main entrance would also to be provided.
