Harassment in de-duplication of PAN Cards denied

New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) The Government today admitted in the Lok Sabha that dificulties in the refunds due to duplication of PAN Card have been noted, in a few cases.

However,no case of harassment during the de=duplication excercise has come to the Govenment's notice,Minister of State for Finance S.S.Palanimanickam said in a written reply.

He said a number of persons made multiple appliacations for PAN giving particulars differently ,resulting in issue of multiple PANs.In order to clean the PAN database,it was decided to undertake an excecise for de-duplication of PAN.

Field Offices of the Income Tax Department had been directed to complete de-duplication excecise in a time bound manner.Besides,the software in this regard had been enhanced to speed up the de-duplication process.
