Govt to place policy on hoardings before SC
New Delhi, Apr 27(UNI) The Delhi government, MCD and NDMC today informed the Supreme Court that a comprehensive and cohesive policy has been prepared for display of hoardings in Delhi in consultation with experts.
Counsel for Delhi government and for two civic bodies told the bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices Arijit Pasayat and S H Kapadia that the policy prepared by the state government would be placed before this court for approval within two weeks.
The court adjourned the hearing by four weeks.
Today's submissions were made by Delhi government during the hearing of a PIL praying to the court to lay down some guidelines for putting up hoardings in the city which were playing havoc with the movement of the traffic and the people in the city as big hoardings block the sight and have been responsible for some very serious road accidents in the city.
The Delhi government also informed the court that the new policy would be notified soon and would control display of hoardings in such a manner that they do not cause any inconvenience to the people of Delhi. New bus stand sheds in NDMC area which carry hoardings on the backside of the shed are part of the new policy of the government for hoardings.
