Digvijay wins Under-14 and Under-16 AITA championship
Chandigarh, Apr 27 (UNI) Top seeded Digvijay Singh Mehta of Himachal Pradesh claimed a golden double by winning the boys Under-16 as well as Under-14 singles title in the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament which concluded at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.
In both finals, Digvijay staged remarkable rallies to emerge a winner In the boys Under-16 singles final, Digvijay prevailed over second seed Mandeep Singh Gill of Chandigarh 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Down by a set, Digvijay Mehta rallied to return to form to down Gurinder Singh of Punjab 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the Under-14 final.
Unseeded Ikttesh Chahal of Chandigarh defeated Likhita Shetty of Karnataka by 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 in the girls Under-16 final while Mehak Singh got the better of Jaanesh Kaur of Chandigarh 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 in girls Under-16 final.
