Congress-NCP seat sharing yet to be finalised: Wilfred De Souza
Panaji, April 27 (UNI) The seat sharing arrangement between the Congress and NCP, the coalition partner in Goa, will be finalised after talks between the respective party presidents in Delhi for the June 2 elections to the 40-member Goa Legislative Assembly.
Disclosing this to mediapersons soon after his return from New Delhi after holding discussions with his party bosses and the Congress high command, State NCP President and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Wilfred De Souza said the talks were inconclusive and the discussion was confined to its demand of 10 seats for the NCP.
Citing as 'speculative' media reports that the Congress offered only seven seats, De Souza said both the high command representatives Ahmed Patel and Praful Patel will soon thrash out a formula, which would be finally approved by respective party Presidents.
He said he had put forward the argument in support of the 10 seats the NCP was claiming. The Congress, in its own interest, should concede to the demand. Otherwise, the BJP would come to power in Goa again, he warned.
