Congress condemns move to close Krishna Jala Bhagya Nigam
Bangalore, Apr 27(UNI) Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly N Dharam Singh today condemned the state government's move to close down the Krishna Jala Bhagya Nigam as the work on the project was still incomplete.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Singh said that the hurried decision by the government would invite wrath of the farmers of the northern region in the State.
He urged Irrigation Minister K S Eshwarappa to convene a meeting of elected representatives of the region for further strengthening the Krishna Jala Bhagya Nigam to fund the project instead of closing down.
Stating that D N Desai Committee was preparing several schemes in this region, he said the project which irrigates 12 lakh acres of land in the Districts of Gulbarga, Raichur, Bjapur and Bagalkot is a life line for the farmers.
