Close shave for district council member

Guwahati, Apr 27 (UNI) An executive member of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous District Council (NCHADC) had a narrow escape when suspected militants of the Black Widow outfit ambushed his vehicle today.

Official sources said militants of the Black Widow, the anti-talks faction of the DHD outfit, detonated an IED near Umrangsu in the district this evening, targeting NCHADC EM Nandu Langthasa's vehicle which was passing by.

Langthasa was travelling from Haflong to Diyungmukh.

While the executive escaped unhurt, one of his PSO suffered critical injuries.

Combing operations were launched in the area to nab the culprits.
