CII seeks conducive environ for Industry growth in K'taka
Bangalore, Apr 27 (UNI) Expressing 'grave' concern over the recent developments in acquisition of land for industrial development in Karnataka, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today sought the Coalition Government to come out with a policy to promote large industrial units.
Seeking the State to emulate the examples of neighbouring states, the CII, in a release here said, such a policy should endeavour to provide incentives to the private sector with the government providing the much needed infrastructure which could generate and nurture employment.
Highlighting the important role that KIADB has to play in this regard in promoting investments and industries in and around Bangalore, CII said KIADB not only has the responsibility of giving land but also providing related infrastructure around it.
''A conducive and an enabling environment which supports and nurtures industrial growth should be the prime driver in attracting investments into the state,'' the Industrial body said pointing out the stiff competition Karnataka was facing from neigbouring states in attracting domestic and foreign investments.
Karnataka, with a resource pool of skilled workforce, excellent training and allied institutions and a proactive government was better positioned to emerge as the most industrially-developed state in the country, provided that infrastructure like roads, power, water and other factors were addressed at the earliest.
Such an industrial development in the long run would create an economic growth that would address the regional disparities among the various regions in Karnataka by making the growth more inclusive and sustainable and most importantly giving an opportunity for all the sections of the society to benefit from the growth, the release added..
