CBI arrests Postal officials for accepting bribe

Kochi, Apr 27 (UNI) The CBI today arrested Assistant Postal Superintendent T Karunakaran and Mail Overseer C Balan of the Kannur Postal Sub-division on charges of demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 and accepting Rs 1,000 from an applicant for appointment as postman.

The officials were trapped by CBI sleuths while accepting the bribe from the applicant who had filed a complaint with the CBI.

The complainant had appeared for an interview before Karunakaran who demanded the bribe for the appointment, according to an official press release.
