Bihar ahead of Bengal in development : Thakur

Kolkata, Apr 27 (UNI) Bihar Land and Land Reforms Minister Ramnath Thakur today claimed that Bihar under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was now far ahead of West Bengal in terms of development.

At a time when the CPI(M)-led Left Front was claiming that their 30-years stability in the state was on basis of their land reforms policy, it was proved totally ''wrong'' after the March 14 incident of forceful acquiring of land for SEZ in Nandigram,'' he said, in a convention of anti-SEZ and the Nandigram movement organised by the Bengal chapter of JD(U) here.

He said the JD(U) government followed the election manifesto and the state was rapidly progressing in all sectors, including education, employment, land reforms and health.

He acknowledged that the JD(U)'s strength in West Bengal is very slim and appealed to the party workers to unite and fight against the Left Front government's SEZ policy and Nandigram incident.

Bihar Information and Broadcasting Minister Arjun Roy also spoke in the convention.
