ANI reporter injured in Kashmir
Srinagar, Apr 27 (UNI) A journalist working with Asian News International (ANI) Pervez Ahmad Bhat was injured today when a stone hit him during stone-pelting in protest against the demolition of an ancient mosque on the historic Hari Parbat, also known as Kooh-e-Maran hill, in the downtown.
Official sources said that a group of people forced closure of shops and business establishments in the downtown city were the demonstrators also pelted stones on passing vehicles and burnt tyres in the middle of the road.
A group of journalists, who had gone there to cover the incident were, also attacked by the demonstrators.
ANI reporter Pervez Bhat, who sustained head injuries, was hospitalised.
Shops and business establishments in the entire downtown, particuarly in and around the hitoric Jamia Masjid, were closed and traffic was suspended in view of the tense situation and stone-pelting.
Yesterday, a photo journalist of a local daily was beaten up by some unidentified persons in the downtown.
