Akola witnesses spate of suicides by youth

Akola, Apr 27 (UNI) The district has witnessed a spate of suicides since yesterday, and all those who ended their lives were below the age of 30.

A 19-year-old girl, identified as Sharda Ramdas Paturde, ended her life by consuming varnish in Akot taluka. She succumbed yesterday while undergoing treatment in a hospital. Police suspect that the girl had committed suicide as she was opposed to her marriage that was fixed with a cousin.

A youth, Sayyed Hasam Ali Sayyed Kasam, from the same Akot taluka committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree.

Vijayshri Sadanand Chavan, a 16-year-old girl, ended her life by consuming poison in Chelka village. However, police have not been able to ascertain as to what drove the girl to end her life.

The Borgaon Manju police reported that a youth, Kishor Tulsiram Jadhav (25), had committed suicide by consuming poison.
