AIADMK stages walkout in Pondy Assembly

Puducherry, Apr 27 (UNI) The Opposition, AIADMK, today staged a walk out in the Assembly protesting the Speaker's refusal to permit Legislature Party Leader A Anbazhagan to raise an issue during the Zero Hour.

Immediately after Mr Anantharaman (PMK), Mr S P Sivakumar (DMK) and Mr M Kandasamy (Cong) tabled special mentions, Speaker R Radhakrishnan passed on to other business.

Mr Anbazhagan informed the Speaker that he had also given notice for a special mention which should be allowed. However, Mr Radhakrishnan denied permission saying the issue was not of much importance.

Mr Anbazhagan continued to argue with the Speaker even as Chief Minister N Rangasamy intervened to state that the member had been given ample opportunities to state his views and should not question the rulings of the Speaker.

As Mr Radhakrishnan paid no heed to his request, Mr Anbazhagan along with Mr Om Sakthi Sekhar and Mr Omalingam walked out.

Later, Mr Anbazhagan told newsmen outside the House taht he wanted to raise an issue pertaining to reservation for fishermen in MBC quota. He had given the notice in the Speaker's chamber this morning.

However, permission to raise the issue was denied on the floor of the House, he said.
