98 prisoners freed on Loktantra Day
Kathmandu, Apr 27 (UNI) Nepal government has freed 98 prisoners exempting their remaining prison term on the occasion of Loktantra Day, breaking the tradition of freeing prisoners on the occasion of birthday of the King.
Spokesman of the Government of Nepal and Minister for information and Communications Krishna Bahadur Mahara in a press communique published today made public the decisions of the yesterday's meeting of the Council of Ministers.
Mahara represents the Maoists in the interim cabinet led by Girija Prasad Koirala.
In the past, the prisoners used to be freed on the day of King's birth day.
