Two militants killed in J

Srinagar, Apr 26 (UNI) Two militants were killed across Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said today.

He said personnel of the Special Operation Group (SOG) of state police and 28 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) conducted a combing operation at Tandigam village in north Kashmir's Kupwara district early today.

As the operation was in progress, militants fired upon the security forces. The fire was effectively retaliated and in the ensuing gunfight, a militant was killed, he added.

Some arms and ammunition were also seized from the possession of the slain ultra, the spokesman added.

He said security forces recovered the body of a militant, identified as Shabir Ahmed, from Shadole village in Mahore area of Reasi district last evening.

Shabir was active in the area from the past four years, the spokesman said. He said the militant might have probably died after slipping from the hilly terrain.
