Tourism and Hospitality industry summit

Gangtok, Apr 26 (UNI) The Fourth Sectoral Summit on Tourism and Hospitality industry of North East Council (NEC) will begin here tomorrow.

Union Minister for Development of North East Region(DONER) and NEC Chairman Mani Shankar Aiyer, Union Minister for Tourism Ambika Soni, Governors and Chief Ministers of all the North Eastern states and some top bureaucrats from the central government and the north Eastern states are expected to deliberate widely on the two day summit to find ways and means to promote tourism in the region.

Besides the presentations made by the Ministers, an interactive section for private stateholders in tourism like travel agents and tour operators is also scheduled to be held during the summit.

Meanwhile, the Sikkim government has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the summit.

The state police have thrown a security blanket and made arrangements for the deployment of security personnel in full strength to ensure that no untoward incident occurred during the meeting.

DIG Range Askhya Sachdeva said security personnel from the Sikkim Armed Police, India Reserve Battalion will be deployed through out the capital twown.

In addition to it security personnel in plain clothes will be deployed in strategic points and Commandos will provide extra security to the visiting digniotaries.
