Torrent Pharma launches CVpill

Ahmedabad, Apr 26 (UNI) Ahmedabad-based healthcare major, Torrent Pharma has launched CVpill, the world's first polypill in cardiac care.

The idea of a polypill has been around for sometime. But, with CVpill, Torrent Pharma becomes the first company to actually launch a polypill. Patients with multiple CV risk factors have to take 4 to 5 medications daily. This is an expensive treatment and there is always the risk of the patient forgetting to take a medicine. The CVpill lets patients experience the simplicity of an 'all-in-one' medication at a highly cost-effective price, the company said in a release here today.

CVpill is available in a unique kit containing a capsule and a tablet. The capsule contains a statin (Atorvastatin 10 mg), an ACE inhibitor (Ramipril 5 mg) and an anti-platelet agent (Enteric-coated Aspirin 75 mg). The tablet contains a beta blocker (Metoprolol Succinate Extended Release 50 mg). The capsule and the tablet are to be taken simultaneously once a day. The CVpill is an innovative combination of these four most recommended molecules used in the treatment for multiple cardiovascular (CV) risk factors.
